It grieves me today to write about this because neither of my teams made the playoffs. Actually, the Broncos didn’t make the playoffs and the Chargers were knocked off by the Jets. But I need to work through my pain with a little sports talk.
Are you ready sport buffs?…Let’s talk football.
I know what your thinking….You’re wondering if I finally fell off my rocker and am going crazy. But slow down for a second, there buddy and let me explain.
Why football?
Couple of reasons, first being that I happen to know a little about the game and trust me, there are many similarities to trading.
Today we are going to take a look at an offensive position.
Have you ever noticed how great running backs always want the ball?
Every time they get their hands on the ball they expect to score. Of course that would be impossible, but they truly believe that every time they touch the ball they are going to go the distance.
They never know if it’ll happen on the first carry or the tenth. They sometimes even get stuffed for a loss. But they don’t concern themselves with that, because they know it’s just a matter of time before they break it big.
They never hesitate, the hole appears and they run through it with reckless abandon always assuming that this is it….time to score.
They want to be in the game because points are not scored from the sidelines.
I love the way Larry Hite says it in Market Wizards, “I have two basic rules about winning in trading as well as in life: 1. If you don’t bet, you can’t win. 2. If you lose all your chips, you can’t bet.”
One way to ensure that you don’t loose all your chips is to trade with an understanding of probabilities. Then you can confidently move from the sidelines to the field and be like the running back hitting the hole with focused aggression.
I’ve trained hundreds of people to put the probabilities on their side….to seize opportunities without hesitation…and score big!
Remember, the great running backs weren’t born that way…they succeeded because they prepared and when the opportunity presented itself, they hit it at full speed.
That’s all I got to say about that.
FYI – I’m picking the Colts over the Saints in the Superbowl!
See you in the end zone!
Jeff Ziegler
G’day Jeff. Pity about the Chargers – I’m a fan because I lived in San Diego for 2.5 years (1985-87). You are right, of course, you can’t win if you are not in the game. I can’t win yet because I only received the training manual a few days ago, but am getting into it.
Go Chargers! (next year!)
Cheers,
Howard
Thanks Jeff. This tweet is a the piece of info I needed today…Corinne
Hey Howard,
It won’t take you long. Before you know it you’ll be able to trade spreads with your eyes closed.
Who you picking for the Superbowl?
JZ
Corrine,
I’m glad you liked it. Have a great day!

Hey – loved the way you mixed in trading tactics with sports and the SuperBowl…I’m gonna go with the Saints just because I think it’s the 1st time they’ve ever been to a SuperBowl but I could be wrong about that…anyway it’ll be a fun Sunday – kinda like a semi-national-holiday…get out the chips, dip a couple of Strohs Fire-brewed
beers and take a well deserved break…Go Saints hahaha
